For the last month our backyard Passion Fruit/Flower vine (Passiflora ‘Coral Glow’) has been bursting with color. The vine is at least 30 feet long and churns out tons of beautiful pink flowers. We use these flower petals for passion, romance, and love work. The vines are climbers and growers, making sure they find success over any obstacle.
This was the second harvest of the season and much bigger than the last one in May. I easily filled a basket up with the bright pink flowers and headed inside with them. After bringing them in I gently cut off the flower “heads” and placed them in a bowl. Once the petals are individually plucked we place them between paper towel sheets to dry. They are too delicate for the food dehydrator. After two days the petals start to go from an earthy/organic smell to one of sugary sweetness. Mmmmm…passion!
We use the dried petals in our Passion Oil, general Love work, and as a single ingredient incense when needed. The full flower petal heads can also be used to circle a small 4″ candle, the perfect size actually! This creates a powerfully symbolic and nice looking addition to any love/attraction/passion spell. You can divine any symbols, wax, or impressions you have left once the candle has burned down. It is best to do this with fresh petals, as dried ones will crumble and burn.
As we are moving this August I have been trying to harvest and dry as many petals as we can. The bright pink Passion Flower Petals are great to work with and I will miss taming the “beast in the backyard.” Thankfully, I should be able to get at least 3 more harvests before we have to say goodbye to the plants and move on.
